I work with someone who bought a $22,000 fishing boat a couple of years ago. He refinanced his house (for 30 more years) to swing it and likes to tell people he paid cash for the boat. He had it in the water ONE time this summer. The nicest summer ever and he went fishing ONCE. It sits in the garage next to his pair of four wheelers (also purchased with refinance money) that he doesn't have time to use either. He tends to borrow twenties a couple of days before payday on a regular basis. I'm hoping he'll sell me the boat in a couple of years for a fraction of whats it worth. God I'm evil.

Debt and the danger of comparisons
by Simon indo you ever look at other people and think "blimey, they are doing well ... new house ... new car ... why am i not getting ahead like that?".
you will probably find out that the car is hp or bought with a re-mortgage of a re-mortgage which is interest only.
no money is going to pay off capital and they don't have any savings and are not making any provision for their pension (other than imagining that the house they are *not* paying off will somehow suffice).

I know heaps of people who live well beyond their means. Its the old saying..."living a champagne lifestyle on a six-pack budget."
I work with people who have all the toys - a boat, a couple of 4-wheelers (quad bikes), a motorcycle or two, a couple of snowmobiles - plus whatever toys theirs spouses have not to mention the kids. They go on trips, have several cell phones, live in huge houses, have high def TV's with the premium cable or satellite package and work their asses off. Whats the point of having all that stuff if you're never home to enjoy it? I don't understand the allure of living on the edge like that.

She explained that her parents kicked her out of their house when she was 16 and she got into hooking to survive. When asked why her parents kicked her out she said her parents were really religious and she couldn't live by their rules. I realize that witnesses don't have a monopoly on this type of behaiviour, but I couldn't help but think that this young women was the victim of "theocratic love." Maybe she'll find a site like this and realize she is not alone out there. Whatever religion her parents follow I hope she can find a way out of her life on the street. I hate stories like this one.

Islam bashed by Witnesses
by Fleshybirdfodder ini was listening to talk radio the other day and they were discussing the muslims who were taken off an american airlines flight (i believe that was the airline) because they were praying publicly prior to the flight.
one of the individuals, an imam, who was on the flight was being interviewed and in the defense of what he called "moderate islam" proclaimed there is a movement against islam, and specifically mentioned jehovah's witnesses handing out a flyer where they directly misquote the koran to implicate all muslims in 9/11.
is this in the new "the end of false religion is near" tract?

I doubt that the powers in New York would have the guts to say anything that might set Muslims off. The GB and, more importantly, the lawyers had to have noticed what happened when the pope quoted another long dead pope regarding Islam. I have to admit that it would be entertaining to see thousands of enraged Muslims protesting at the watchtower HQ and the various branches around the world calling for jihad against the watchtower bible and tract society. Maybe the governing body would go to a mosque and pray for unity and peace with their Muslim brothers. I guess that would be a stretch.

by Mary inthat piece of human filth, oj simpson, had the rug pulled out from under him as both his book deal and the interview with him has been cancelled, due to public outrage:.

I wonder if oj gets to keep the advance? As tasteless as it sounds I have a hard time believeing that the book won't be shopped to another publisher. The books already printed will end up circulated and the interview will be available somewhere. Its all about the "cha-ching."

Wow. You don't have to believe me but consider a couple of things. Why did you spend so much time talking on the phone with her? Does she live on the other side of the planet? A phone is a single woman's most powerful weapon. She can hold you at arms length while simultaneously keeping you firmly in her grasp and that is a really bad spot for any guy to find himself in. If you find yourself in entrapped by a phone call just say you got to go and hang up.
But you are on the phone with her and toward the end you work up the courage to ask her out. That is fantastic! Make it your mission in life to ask every woman you meet out on a date. You are going to get shot down a lot but that is the point. It won't take long for you to see that getting turned down doesn't kill you. It doesn't even hurt you. You have a lot to offer any woman so if she turns you down its her loss, not yours. Once you realize that, you will not be intimidated by any woman you meet. However, you asked her out for a first date and you chose Saturday night as the night. Interesting. Conventional wisdom says this was a good thing. I strongly disagree. Saturday night is prime time so choosing a Saturday night for a first date says something about you and it isn't good. You are shouting for the whole world to hear that you have nothing better to do on a Saturday night then spend it with someone you hardly know. It gets worse. When you ask a woman out for a first date on a Saturday night you are suggesting that SHE has nothing better to do on a Saturday night then go out with some guy she barely knows. That doesn't score a lot of points for you. You are a busy guy with a full life of adventure so you will not ask a woman out for a first date on a Saturday night ever again. Even if what you just read isn't true, believe it about yourself.
One quick thing about the date you asked her on. You wrote that you were going to meet at 6 for your date. I take that to mean you were going to meet at a bar or something and go from there. If that is what was supposed to happen, that wasn't a date. A date starts with you picking her up at her house, not meeting somewhere. Women will say, "No. Its better to meet someone at a neutral site for the first date because the man might be a serial killer or something so its the safe thing to do." The reality is if a woman is interested in you she will want you to pick her up at her house for that first date whether you are a vicious killer or not.
Well thats my take. It doesn't really sound like she was all that interested in the first place but don't feel bad about that. So what if you got stood up? I'd predict you would'nt have had that good of a time anyway. So get out there. Its Saturday night and you are a man on the town. Flirt with anybody you fancy. Ask for a dance. Ask for some phone numbers. Laugh out loud if you get that "as if" look and move on to the next one. Go out and have some fun.

This one, a montage of still photos, shows witnesses who volunteered after Katrina. Neat that whoever put it together didn't use a kingdom melody for background music. Obviously a rebel.

Last one. This guy is a Muslim. Claims that he was "the national overseer for Jehovah's Witnesses" but quit in 1969 because he could not preach things he didn't believe. Maybe someone from Scotland can confirm his statements.

I found this video of a young girl giving her first talk at a hall. I thought she did a pretty good job of it. She seems really smart. I thought it was an odd thing to put up on the net though. The school overseer could stand to drop some pounds. Fewer Big Macs and maybe a good daily walk. Is it my imagination or did I hear someone crying and/or screaming toward the end of the clip (at about 6 minutes)? Probably some poor kid with a rebellious spirit...
